Dead Lakes RV Park is a quiet campground located in Northwest Florida, near Panama City Beach. It was renovated after suffering damage from hurricanes, and features flat, full hook-up spots with 50-amp service and a concrete pad. There is a small camp store at the office that has some forgotten items, and a herd of deer can be seen walking around at night. There is a boat launch connected to the Dead Lakes, two large ponds with long docks for fishing, and a small nature trail. There is a comfort station building with two washers and two dryers (cold-water only). There is good OTA TV reception and decent Verizon signal, and the staff is very friendly and helpful. There is a dump station, but it is poorly set up. Free laundry is available using the one set of appliances at the rear of the office building. Panama City is about 30 minutes away for more supplies.

Explore the beautiful 6,700-acre Dead Lakes area. The Dead Lakes is an area of unspoiled beauty where you can enjoy nature, fish, hike, camp, kayak, or simply relax. The Dead Lakes was reportedly formed when sand bars created by the Apalachicola River’s current blocked the Chipola River. The ensuing high water killed thousands of trees in the floodplain, leaving a graveyard of bottom-heavy cypress skeletons, stumps, and knees. The uplands are covered mainly by Longleaf Pines, with Sweetbay Magnolia, and Cypress trees bordering wetlands. Animals that may be encountered in the area include foxes, cotton rats, raccoons, opossums, deer, rabbits, skunks, beavers, turtles, snakes, and alligators.
