Payne Campground is a beautiful, well-kept campground located on the shore of Lake Allatoona in Georgia. It offers a variety of sites, from full hookups to those with no hookups, as well as a dump station. The campground has a friendly staff, who are helpful and informative. Unfortunately, the campground has been affected by a beetle infestation, leaving many sites without shade. There is one bathhouse, which is adequate but may not be enough for a full campground. The interior roads are easy to navigate and Verizon reception is good. Sites are close together and there are a lot of young families, so it may not be suitable for those looking for more privacy. There is a small slice of a view of the lake from some sites, and beach access is available. The fire rings and concrete picnic tables are a nice touch. There is a lot of wildlife in the area and the campground is very quiet. Unfortunately, there are weeds growing tall and poison ivy surrounding some sites. Camp hosts are accommodating but there is no patrol of the area.
