What others are saying about this campground
Vogel State Park is a beautiful state park located in the Blue Ridge Mountains of northern Georgia. It is the perfect location for visiting all the sights in the area, with a lake for fishing and swimming, canoe and paddle boat rentals, walking trails, hiking, fishing, playgrounds, a Conservation Corps museum, and Trahlyta Falls. The campground is nestled in a creek valley surrounded by towering hemlocks and offers spacious sites with fire rings, grills, picnic tables, and lantern posts. There are two childrens playgrounds, horse shoes, volley ball, and miniature golf. The park also offers nice cabin rentals and a camp store with backpacking supplies and clothes. The park is also undergoing a major sewage upgrade, adding full hookup sites to additional sites. Due to its location in the valley and encirclement by the nearby highway, road noise is noticeable at times. Wifi is non-existent up in the campground, but there is service a short walk away. The bathhouse closest to the sites has four self-contained, fully private shower/restroom suites. The sites on the creeks are luscious with trees and the water makes a great noise backdrop. Navigation inside the park can be challenging with tight turns, heave and close tree coverage, confusing one-way roads, and odd site placement. The road into, through and out of the campground includes some very tight turns and relatively steep grades that might be a tough for large rigs. The park is also about 20-30 minutes from Helen, GA and is a great base camp location for hiking, sightseeing, and even road biking.
