What others are saying
This campground is located on the edge of Lake Burton in the mountains of Northeast Georgia. It offers stunning views of the lake and is conveniently located near the town of Clayton, which has great restaurants and shopping. The campground is surrounded by tall trees, providing plenty of shade, and has gravel sites with fire pits, picnic tables, and swings for adults. There is a playground and a fish hatchery nearby, making it a great spot for a family camping trip. Despite being close to a state road, the campground is relatively quiet and the Forest Service trail across the road is highly recommended. Unfortunately, there is no sewer at this site and cell service is non-existent. However, the camp hosts and state employees are very friendly and helpful, and the nearby Lake Burton is absolutely breathtaking. The grey water dump was out of order and the camphost patrolled non stop in their cart, but the wifi was shut down every 30 minutes. There is a walk to a boat dock, and visitors can bring their own boats and jet skis to moor on the campground pier. There is also a nice hiking trail along the Moccassin Creek up to Hemlock Falls. The park is clean and has a nice assortment of products for sale in the office. The bathhouses are clean and have hot showers, and there is a convenient dump station. All in all, it is a great spot for a relaxing camping trip with plenty of activities to enjoy.

From The Campground
Moccasin Creek State Park is a family-friendly campground located within the Chattahoochee National Forest. The park is relatively flat, offering easy navigation for large RVs, children’s bicycles, and wheelchairs. The park sits on the shores of Lake Burton, which is a prime spot for skiing, boating, and fishing. Visitors can tour an adjacent trout rearing station, hike on several nearby trails in the Blue Ridge Mountains, or simply relax in this peaceful setting. The park’s central location makes it a perfect jumping-off spot for exploring area waterfalls, mountain bike trails, shops, and restaurants.
