What others are saying about this campground
Located on the Altamaha River and the Bullard Creek Wildlife Management Area, the Heritage Center campground is a tranquil and peaceful spot for campers. The campground offers a variety of sites, including pull-through and back-in sites with 30/50 amp power, water, fire rings, picnic tables, and a dump station. The centrally located bathhouse has hot showers and is kept clean. The Heritage Center also has a small museum with information about the local wildlife and settlement history, as well as a hiking trail and a boat ramp. The campground is gated and requires a code for entry and the office is closed on Sunday and Monday. Campers can find Hazelhurst 9 miles down the road for shopping, fuel, pharmacist, etc. The campground is quiet and secluded, with shaded spots and grass for dogs to enjoy. There is a chance of hearing gunshots off in the woods, and the roads in the campground have gradually gotten worse over the last 3 years. Mosquitoes can be an issue after a lot of rain.
