What others are saying
Campground 2 is situated atop Black Rock Mountain, Georgias highest state park, and offers stunning views of the surrounding area. The road to the campground is narrow, winding, and steep, making it difficult to access with large motorhomes, although experienced drivers can make it up the mountain. Sites are back-in and vary in length, with some offering more privacy than others. All sites have heavy picnic tables, double lantern hooks, and fire pits. There is a visitors center at the top of the mountain and a general store, although both may be closed at certain times. The campground offers free cable and cell service, although it is not blazing fast. There are fun planned activities every day, such as HoeDown Dances, Panning for Gold, and Wilderness Survival Talks/Demos. The campground also has a closed trash collection area to ensure that food and trash are not left out to attract bears. The bathrooms are clean and the staff are friendly and helpful. Check-in can be a bit confusing, as it requires physically signing an agreement not to feed the bears.

From The Campground

Black Rock Mountain State Park is Georgia's highest state park, offering outstanding scenery in the Blue Ridge Mountains. Visitors can enjoy roadside overlooks with spectacular 80-mile vistas, four hiking trails, a small lake popular with anglers, and mountaintop cottages and campsites nestled under rhododendron and gnarled oaks. The park's summit visitor center offers views, a gift shop, and picnic tables. At an altitude of 3,640 feet, Black Rock Mountain is often cooler than other Georgia parks and may close during icy weather. RVers should be comfortable driving on steep, winding roads.
