What others are saying about this campground
Russell Lake is a peaceful and secluded camping destination with 42 sites of varying sizes to accommodate RVs. Some sites overlook the lake and each site includes a tent pad and fire ring. Trash, potable water, and bathhouses are accessible on both loops. The lower loop is a quick 3 minute walk to the large beach and swimming area, and no motorized boats are allowed. There are very few people at the lake, even on 4th of July weekend. The Civilian Conservation Corps has been working on cleaning up the area, and there is a convenience store just outside the entrance to stock up on ice, etc. There are plenty of dispersed picnic areas for day use and trails for hiking and horseback riding. The campground is not as crowded as state parks and the first loop is first come first serve. Firewood is available to purchase and the camp host will retrieve your money when you mention it during check-in. There are no electric hookups, but there are plenty of tall trees to provide shade. There are also a few public access OTA channels and good T-Mobile signal.
