What others are saying about this campground
Not so at Crooked River. The pull thrus are just a parking spot with no amenities. Crooked River State Park is a beautiful and well-maintained campground located on the St. Marys River near St. Marys, Georgia. The park is home to tall Georgia pines, providing shade and plenty of room for activities. There are a variety of trails to explore, a nature center, picnic areas, and a marina with a boat launch. The campground features spacious sites, full hook-ups, and private bathrooms with toilets, sinks, and showers. There are also 11 cabins for rent with screen porches. The park is a great jumping off point for a day trip to Cumberland Island National Seashore, and is also within an hours drive of Jekyll Island and St. Simons Island, as well as Florida beaches. The park also offers a mini golf course, outdoor fitness center, and bait and tackle shop. There are plenty of activities to keep everyone entertained, from kayaking with dolphins to bird watching. The campground hosts are friendly and helpful, and the park is kept clean and well maintained. Be sure to bring bug spray, as the area is known for its biting gnats.

From The Campground
Crooked River State Park is located on the southern tip of Georgia's Colonial Coast and offers visitors the chance to enjoy the Intracoastal Waterway and maritime forest. The park features campsites surrounded by palmettos and Spanish moss-draped oaks, as well as cottages set near the tidal river. A boat ramp is popular with anglers who often take to the water before sunrise. The park's nature trail winds through forest and salt marsh, and hikers may see gopher tortoises, fiddler crabs, herons, and other birds. A nature center features fish, snakes, turtles, and other animals native to coastal Georgia. Visitors may venture to the nearby ruins of a tabby mill, built around 1825 and later used as a starch factory during the Civil War.
