What others are saying
The campground is well maintained and the sites are close together but there is enough room to maneuver. Tallulah Gorge State Park Campground is a beautiful, well-maintained campground nestled in the woods with single lane paved roads winding through it. It offers a variety of sites, from pull-throughs to back-ins, but they are all fairly close together and the roads are narrow with low hanging trees. There are no street lights and no sewer hook ups, but there is a dump station at the front of the campground. The staff is friendly and will trim low hanging branches when requested. There is a trail from the campground to the interpretive center, where visitors can get a free permit to hike down to the gorge floor. The power company closes the gates from 10 pm until dawn, and quiet hours are not enforced. There are playgrounds, lighted tennis courts, picnic areas and a 63 acre lake with a beach, but the beaches are a far walk or short drive away. The laundry facilities are broken and the playground is closed, and the number of people allowed in the gorge area is restricted. The road that goes through the campground is very narrow and has a couple of tight curves, but if you go slow and be careful, youll make it. The campground check-in hut is only open on weekends, and the bathrooms are not always stocked with hand soap or toilet paper. The power boxes are shared, so you may need extra cord to reach. There is low water pressure at times, but nothing that causes any problems. The kayak scenes are amazing, and the hosts hung a couple candy canes on our door as a gift. It is a great park for a day trip, but for camping, it may be best to look elsewhere.
