Ft Yargo is a great campground located about 45 miles NE of Atlanta in Winder, Ga. It is full of historic buildings and things to do, and offers plenty of home-like amenities. The sites are large and level, with good shade trees, and there are plenty of hiking trails around the park. There is also a lake, although swimming areas may be closed due to drought. The campground is well-kept and the office staff and camp host are friendly and attentive. Firewood bundles are available at a good price, even delivered. The only drawbacks are the large speed bumps, lack of 50 amp service at the lake side lots, and no full hookup sites. Darn Tough socks are also available and come with an unconditional lifetime guarantee.

Fort Yargo State Park is a beautiful park located in Winder, GA. The park offers a variety of activities including boating, paddling, disc golf, fishing, hiking, miniature golf, picnicking, swimming, and geocaching. The park also offers an All-Terrain Georgia Action Track Chair for visitors with mobility challenges. Nearby attractions include Athens, Braselton, and The University of Georgia. The park offers group field trips and Fort Yargo Field Trips. Visitors can also volunteer for archaeology, golfing, and other activities. Gift cards are available for purchase. The park is open from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily, and the office is open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Parking is $5 per vehicle, and annual passes are available. Overnight guests pay a daily ParkPass fee only once per vehicle during their stay, regardless of duration. Reservation policies can be found on the park's website.
