GenieSummary

Lake Cascade State Park is a 47 square mile lake with 10 campground units spread around the lake. There are sites for tent and RV camping, some with full hook-ups and a dump station for RVs. There are also ADA sites and group and Yurt camping. The lake is warm enough to swim in all summer long and deep enough to have some serious fishing if you bring a boat. The lake winds are great for sailing and there is a dock for easy launching. There are also community water and pit toilets. On the west side of the lake is Huckleberry, which is shaded from the brutal afternoon sun due to being at the foot of West Mountain and about 2 minutes from Tamarack ski resort. Poison Creek is farther south on the west side of the lake. On the north east side of the lake is Sugarloaf Island, which is a bird haven and somewhat isolated from the busier congested camps on the lake. In the town of Cascade is Ridgeview Campground, which is a full service camp with wide and deep trailer spaces. Across the bay from Ridgeview is the first come first serve Crown Point. At Lake Cascade State Park, there are many activities you can do, such as fishing, boating, sailing, and mountain biking. There is also a Jr Ranger program filled with local lore. The scenery from any of the sites is beautiful and the beaches are granite outcroppings. The lake freezes over in the winter time, but there are still some sites available for those willing to rough it in cold weather.

From The Campground

Lake Cascade State Park offers a variety of camping options, including 279 individual campsites in 10 developed campgrounds, two dispersed camping areas with primitive camping, and two group camping opportunities. The park also features several day use areas, six boat launch ramps, and interpretive programs. Visitors can enjoy recreational activities such as windsurfing, sailing, fishing, hiking, and mountain biking. The nearby North Fork of the Payette River offers world-class white water adventure. The park is open year-round, and reservations are available from the Thursday before Memorial Day to Labor Day. In the winter, camping is limited and based on a first-come, first-serve basis.
