GenieSummary

Glens Cove is a low-cost campground that offers a variety of activities such as fishing, power boating, canoeing, kayaking, biking, and a quiet place to stay. The campground has a concrete boat ramp, dock, and slips with electric for boats up to 25 feet, an enclosed fish cleaning station, and plenty of room for trailer parking or boat and RV storage. The common area is very large and located on the St. Marys river waterfront, where visitors can watch freighters go by, nap in the hammock, or enjoy campfires and lively discussions in the evening. The campground is pet-friendly and has a playground for kids. Most sites are well-shaded, and a few on the hill are satellite-friendly. Fire pits, picnic tables, 30 amp and water are available at all sites, and there is a dump cart and small tractor for all to use for the dump station. The camp access road and all interior roads are well-maintained gravel. Showers and bathrooms are scattered around the park, and there is an honor system laundry on the hill near the entrance. The camp store is well-stocked with fishing gear and rental movies. The campground has 25 RV sites, 5 tent sites, and four waterfront cabins. Wi-Fi and rental motors and boats are available at the office. The owners live on-site, are very friendly, and go out of their way to ensure everyone has a great camping visit. The camping rate reflects Passport America discount, and seven days or more is $18. However, the sites are very crowded, and there is lots of dust due to the dirt sites. Additionally, there are millions of flies due to the close proximity of horses and their by-products. The swimming pool is indoor and seemed clean, but the dressing rooms for the swimming pool were fair. Visitors who prefer spacious sites and dislike dirt and flies may not enjoy camping at Glens Cove.

From The Campground

Trout Creek Campground is a peaceful and remote campground located in Boise National Forest. It offers 5 campsites in a pretty mountain meadow near mountain slopes covered in dense pine forest. The campground is accessible by most vehicles, but the road is narrow and may be rough in spots. The campground is near the trailhead to Thunderbolt Lookout and several trails into the Frank Church - River of No Return Wilderness. The South Fork Salmon River and Johnson Creek offer opportunities for fishing. Berry picking and hunting are popular pastimes in season. Wildlife watchers may see deer, elk, bear, and moose. Bald eagles are often spotted soaring overhead. The tiny community of Yellow Pine is north of the campground approximately 15 miles and offers limited services. The popular Yellow Pine Music & Harmonica Festival is held annually in August.
