Van Wyck - Lake Cascade State Park in Cascade, ID is a lovely lakeside campground with spacious full hookup sites and a great view of the lake. The campground has a well-maintained and clean fireplace area. The bathhouse is one of the prettiest and cleanest we have ever seen at a state park. Access to the beach and water activities like kayaking and paddleboarding is easy, and the mountain views are excellent. The Ridgeview campground is much busier than Crown Point, but if you prefer lesser crowding, then Crown Point is a better choice. The roads to the campgrounds are one-way, with constant traffic flow throughout the day, regardless of the season. The cost for the campsite is $38/night, which includes a daily fee of $7, waived if you have an Idaho State Park Pass costing $80 annually. Though slightly high-priced, we would consider ourselves lucky to stay here again if we come back to the area.
From The Campground
Lake Cascade State Park offers a variety of camping options, including 279 individual campsites in 10 developed campgrounds, two dispersed camping areas with primitive camping, and two group camping opportunities. The park also features several day use areas, six boat launch ramps, and interpretive programs. Visitors can enjoy recreational activities such as windsurfing, sailing, fishing, hiking, and mountain biking. The nearby North Fork of the Payette River offers world-class white water adventure. The park is open year-round, and reservations are available from the Thursday before Memorial Day to Labor Day. In the winter, camping is limited and based on a first-come, first-serve basis.
