Powell Campground is a beautiful campground located just over the Montana border on Hwy 12, nestled alongside the picturesque Lochsa River. It offers two loops of campsites, both tent and RV pull-in or back-in camping, with electricity that can accommodate up to a 45 ft camper. There are many amenities including an amphitheater, large group campsite, picnic area, walking trails, and the Lochsa Lodge. The Lodge offers cabins to rent, a market with friendly people, and a restaurant. Wildlife sightings of deer, elk, and bear are common. The campground has 30+ sites, some reservable and some first come, first served. The sites are large and private with electric and non-electric options, communal water spigots, pit toilets, and logs for campfires. Prices range from $14-$20 per night depending on electricity needs. The nearby Lochsa Lodge also offers breakfast and a small general store with gasoline.

From The Campground

Powell Campground is located adjacent to the Wild and Scenic Lochsa River, 60 miles southwest of Missoula, MT and 88 miles northeast of Kooskia, ID. The campground has 3 paved loops and sits in a mature stand of mixed-conifers and shrubs, providing nice shade for all of the campsites. It is often used for family reunions, weddings and large group gatherings, and is the only campground in this prospectus to offer electrical hook-ups. Visitors to Powell Campground often enjoy relaxing by the river, fishing, rafting and swimming as well as hiking and backpacking on some of the nearby trails. A campground host is usually on duty during open season.
