What others are saying
Emerald Lake Campground is a remote and off-the-beaten-path campground located in Idaho. It is a beautiful and secluded spot, with a dense forest of evergreen and cedar trees, and is home to wolves, mountain lions, and a few bears. To get to Emerald Lake, you have to hike down a steep incline. The lake is clear and beautiful, and you can watch fish snag your line. The campground has 18 sites, 3 pit toilets, and one water pump for drinking water. One site is a pull-through, and the rest are tent sites on two levels with little stairs carved into the dirt. There is no potable water, no outhouses, and no trashcans, so visitors must take care to preserve the beauty of the place and pick up after themselves. The campground is only half occupied during the end of June, so visitors can enjoy privacy and numerous bird songs. The nearby creek is a nice background noise, and visitors can also look for Idahos state gem, garnets, in the creek. All this for only $6!

From The Campground

Emerald Creek Campground is located in the Idaho Panhandle National Forests and features 18 camp units, potable water, and vault toilets. The campground is a short distance from the Emerald Creek Garnet Area where visitors can dig for gem quality star garnets for a small fee. The campground provides access to fishing on Emerald Creek and is a popular spot for OHV riding. Picnic sites are also available on a first-come, first-served basis. The majority of sites are 45' to 55' long and parking space length ranges from 38' to 58' long. Mosquitos can be prolific throughout the season, so visitors are advised to bring bug repellent. The campground is open from Memorial Day and fees are $10/night ($5 for third vehicle) for camping and $6.00 per night for picnicking. Sites are available on a first come, first served basis.
