GenieSummary

McKays Bend of the Clearwater Campground is a small, well-maintained campground located between Lewiston and Orofino, Idaho. It offers stunning views of the Idaho mountains and access to the Clearwater River. The campground has 12 RV sites with pull-throughs and back-ins, and a few fire pits for tent campers. There is a patch of grass and a concrete pad with picnic table at each site. The campground is close to Route 12, so there is some road noise, but it is far enough away that it is only a minor hum. The camp host is an 84-year-old gentleman who is very friendly and helpful and has won a national award for his campground hosting. He even brought out an extension cord to get electricity from a shed. Cell service is available with AT&T, but the network is slow. There is a dirt road that leads down to the river, which is scenic, but there are no particularly good spots to hang out on the river. Pickup trucks are pulling in and out of the campground from early in the morning to late at night, as people are heading fishing or returning. The campground offers 50amp service and is $18.00 per night, or $9.00 with an America Beautiful pass. There is a 14 day limit.
