What others are saying about this campground
This small campground is nestled in the corner of Shawnee National Forest, offering single, double, and triple camping spots set up on three loops. The central bath house located near check in has only a pit toilet, so campers should come prepared. Drinking water is available right outside the camp and most sites have a non-potable water spigot, horse hitch, and fire ring. The campground is close to Lake Kinkaid and Johnson Creek, and those with a Golden Pass can receive a discounted stay. The area is quiet and scenic, with plenty of firewood in the forest and owls calling in the trees at night. The trails are unkept and there is poison ivy at nearly every step. The beach is inaccessible and overgrown, so swimming is not an option. The pit toilets are very clean and the campground is a great place to explore the area and visit nearby Ava and Scratch Brewery.
