From The Campground
Carlyle Lake is the largest lake in Illinois and offers a variety of water-oriented outdoor recreation opportunities including camping, picnicking, swimming, boating, fishing, and hunting. The lake is especially attractive to sailboats. The park has over 400 campsites spread across 41 recreation areas. Visitors can also enjoy hiking trails, equestrian trails, and biking trails. The lake is home to a variety of wildlife and offers opportunities for interpretation. There are three marinas on the lake: Boulder Marina, Dam West Marina, and Keyesport Marina. Carlyle Lake is managed by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and offers discounts for age and disability. Visitors can also participate in the Corps Watch Property Protection Program. Firewood should not be brought from home to the campsite to control the spread of the Emerald Ash Borer. Check the Carlyle Lake website for additional information.
