What others are saying about this campground
Blue Heron Campground is a beautiful and serene campground located just outside of Marion, Illinois. It is a part of the National Conservation Area, so those with national park passes only have to pay $10 a night for electric and water, and $12.50 for full hookups. The campground has spacious and grassy sites, some of which are right on the lake shore. The staff are friendly and accommodating, and sometimes host educational presentations for kids. There is a beach for campers to enjoy, and lots of trails for hiking and fishing. The campground is big rig friendly and pet friendly, and tent camping is also available. The bathrooms are a bit too grimy, but the showers are do-able. There is also a gas station right down the street. The views are breathtaking, with amazing sunsets and sunrises, and lots of wildlife. Reservations are not allowed, so it is best to come during the week. There is also a boat dock and a cleaning station on the grounds.
