. Prairie Lake Campground is a great family-friendly destination for camping. It offers full hookup sites, as well as primitive camping, with a shelter, picnic table, and fire pit. The campground is relatively new, so there are few trees in the campground proper, making it hot in the summer months. There is a boat dock close by, and lots of open areas for hunters. The sites are big and well-laid out, and the campground is affordable and felt safe. There are over 26 miles of trails, but watch out for poison ivy. The equestrian loop has a shower house with three showers and three bathroom stalls, as well as a vault toilet in the middle of camp. Most sites have at least partial shade, and all have hitching rails and electricity. The lake is great for kayaking, canoeing, and bass fishing, and there are cabins available that are rustic but nicely placed on the water. Drawbacks include dirty showers, no beach/swimming, and sites without shade. AT&T coverage is inconsistent, and there is no cable or WiFi. The sewer opening is large, and the campground can be windy.
