The camp store is well stocked and the camp hosts are friendly and helpful. Carlyle Lake State Park is a beautiful, scenic campground located on the shores of Carlyle Lake. It offers a variety of activities for the whole family, including swimming in the pool, fishing, tubing, skiing, and hiking on the wooded nature trails. The campground is open year round and offers both reservable and walk up sites for primitive and RV camping. Most sites have plenty of shade and room in between so you are not right on top of your neighbors. The camp store is well stocked and the camp hosts are friendly and helpful. The shower houses are clean and air conditioned, and there is a nice large zero entry pool for a $5 fee on weekends. There are also several playgrounds, a basketball court, and sand volleyball. Cell service is excellent and the nearby town of Carlyle has a Walmart and several fast food eateries. The campground is popular during the summer and fall, but if you are able to choose your site early, there are quite a few options that offer more privacy. The only downside is the pit toilets, which are in horrendous condition and have wasps, spiders, and other critters.
