What others are saying about this campground
Lone Point campground is the perfect place for a peaceful and scenic getaway. Located 14 miles from the rural town of Shelbyville, IL, the campground is maintained by the US Army Corps of Engineers and offers fire rings with grates, lantern posts, picnic tables, level parking areas, and a shower house. The main campground closes on Labor Day, but a small section near the boat ramp is open year round and offers nice sites with camp stove stands, grills, and fire pits. The 12 mile trail from Lone Point to Eagle Creek along the lake shoreline is moderate to difficult hiking, and the trail is open year round. There is no WiFi, but Verizon cell service is available, and the campground hosts are friendly and attentive. The atmosphere is friendly and campers are patient as the roads sometimes require yielding to the other guy. Enjoy the sunset on the beach, explore the area, and build rock formations. The campground is the least visited on the lake, so it can be quiet and you can get a site with a view.
