This campground is a great place to stay, with level, gravel pull-through sites near the front of the park and back-in sites in the back of the park in a wooded area. The sites are spacious and clean, and the trees provide plenty of shade. There is a small pond in the wooded area and a friendly manager. The bathrooms are primitive and dirty, and the showers offer little privacy. The camp hosts are very nice and helpful, and the owner is in the process of adding a couple of pull-thru sites for overnighters. The park is located 2 miles from downtown Herrin, and Marion and Carbondale are the larger cities nearby. There is a huge owl by the site, but the campground also has a large dog to protect from it. The campground offers a quick check-in and even offered to give a ride to the Chevy dealer in town.
