This campground is a great place to stopover on your way back home. The owners, Eric and Todd, are friendly and attentive, and their sweet yellow lab Wrigley is a true joy to have around. The campground has a large grassy common area with a great view of crop land and beautiful sunsets and sunrises. The price is exceptionally reasonable and the town of Lincoln is a five minute drive away where you can find a variety of fast food and stores. The campground has simple and straightforward rules and the owners check in on guests when there is a frost warning to make sure they are taking precautions. The sites are fairly level gravel with no concrete apron, but plenty of room for rigs and slideouts. The restrooms are currently closed, so you need a fully capable camper to take advantage of this park right now.
From The Campground
Camp A While is a privately owned, postage-stamp sized campground with only 11 sites off historic Route 66 in Lincoln, IL. The campground has an abundance of tall trees for shade and is surrounded by corn and soybean fields on a paved county highway. They are open year-round and offer water to fill your RV and a dump station to empty your tanks if a full hook-up site is not available. They do not have any bathroom facilities. The campground is located just outside the small town of Lincoln, where you will find a cute and inviting downtown with plenty of shopping and restaurants, and a 24 hr Wal-Mart. Just 2 miles down the road you will find Kickapoo state park. The campground is one of the first stops on Route 66 heading west from Chicago to Santa Monica, California!
