What others are saying about this campground
This campground is located on a lake and is a great spot for wildlife watching. There is a variety of birds, deer, turkey, herons, geese, and ducks, as well as squirrels. The campground is well cared for, but the tent camping area needed to be mowed desperately. The area is hilly and narrow to drive through, and the roads need better signage for easier navigation. There are two campgrounds, one for RVs and one for tent campers. The RV campground has 30 amp service, electric hookups, and a dump station, but no water or sewer hookups. The tent camping area has pit toilets that need attention, and there is a shower house by the boat ramp outside of the campground. There is lots of free firewood, as well as hiking, fishing, and canoeing. The campground host is friendly and tries to be helpful, but isnt around all the time. The park is large, but the campground is fairly small. There are no maps or other info provided, and the campground can get quite busy on the weekends. There is a large grassy area for the kids to play and a playground, but no showers in the campground. The sites are small and close together, but big enough for a 37 motorhome and tow car. The roads are heavily wooded, but there are no issues with branches hitting the motorhome. There are two water spigots in the campground, but one requires a long hose to reach. The campground is a great spot for viewing the 2017 total eclipse, as it is in the center of the path. There are some train noises both day and night, and some large groups camped together, which can lead to drinking and loud parties after hours. There are wineries in the area worth visiting. The campground is in need of major electrical upgrades and more gravel at the parking areas.
