Walnut Point State Park is a beautiful campground located in central Illinois. It offers a variety of camping options, including Class A sites with electric hook-ups and a shower building with flush toilets, as well as group camping and two large picnic shelters. There are 33 sites, not including walk-in tent sites, and a sanitary dump station is provided. The campground is generally quiet, except on Friday and Saturday nights when they host free concerts from 6pm-9pm. There is a concessions stand nearby which serves good food and offers boat rentals, ice, and wood. There are also trails around the campground and a hike to an abandoned observatory. The lake has great fishing, and kayaks and bait can be rented or purchased. PET restrictions are in place, and all noisy, vicious, or dangerous animals are not allowed. Reservations are recommended on most good weather weekends as the campground fills up quickly.
