This campground is a great family destination with plenty of activities for everyone. It has two playgrounds, a sand volleyball court, and a large open field for playing soccer. The primitive campground on the east side of the main entrance is basic yet spaced far enough apart to provide some privacy. The Sun Valley loop is more spacious than the Shady Rest, with lots of mature trees and wide expanses of grass. The entrance involves driving past half of the campground and discovering that the camp host is waiting to sign you in. There are two parks nearby with plenty of hiking opportunities. The camp host and Park Ranger are very helpful and can assist with any issues that arise. The atmosphere is like a big suburban backyard with no real separation between the park and nearby residential area. Unfortunately, the campground is not ideal for larger RVs due to trees and posts blocking the way, and some sites are too sloped for easy leveling. Additionally, two neighbors outside of the campground have dogs that bark all night.
