What others are saying about this campground
Glens Cove is a low-cost campground that offers a variety of activities such as fishing, power boating, canoeing, kayaking, biking, and a quiet place to stay. The campground has a concrete boat ramp, dock, and slips with electric for up to 25-foot boats, enclosed fish cleaning station, and plenty of room for trailer parking or boat and RV storage. The common area is very large and located on the St. Marys river waterfront, where visitors can watch the freighters go by, nap in the hammock, or enjoy campfires and lively discussions. The campground is pet-friendly and has a playground for kids. Most sites are well-shaded, and a few on the hill are satellite-friendly. Fire pits, picnic tables, 30 amp, and water are available at all sites, plus a dump cart and small tractor for all to use for the dump station. The camp access road and all interior roads are well-maintained gravel. Showers and bathrooms are scattered around the park, and there is an honor system laundry on the hill near the entrance. The camp store is well-stocked with fishing gear and rental movies. There are 25 RV sites, 5 tent sites, and four waterfront cabins. Wi-Fi and rental motors and boats are available at the office. The owners live on-site, are very friendly, and go out of their way to be sure everyone has a great camping visit. The camping rate reflects Passport America discount, and seven days or more is $18. However, the sites are very crowded, and there is lots of dust due to the dirt sites. Additionally, there are millions of flies due to the close proximity of horses and their by-products. The swimming pool is indoor and seemed clean, but the dressing rooms for the swimming pool were fair. Visitors who prefer spacious sites and dislike dirt and flies may not enjoy camping at Glens Cove.

From The Campground
Oakwood Bottoms is a primitive camping site located in Shawnee National Forest. It is a favorite spot for waterfowl hunters, but also offers excellent bird watching, fishing opportunities, and picnic areas. The Turkey Bayou Campground is located nearby and offers camping next to a 20-acre lake on the Big Muddy River. The campground is free, but has a 14-day maximum stay and no water or toilets. The site frequently floods during heavy rain periods. The Big Muddy Boat Launch is also nearby and offers one of the few locations to launch your boat or kayak onto the Big Muddy River.
