This campground is located on the Mississippi River, offering a picturesque setting and beautiful views. It offers both primitive tent sites and full service sites, with amenities such as ice, bait, firewood, and propane available in the office. The tent sites are dispersed and offer shade and fire rings, while the full service sites are 30 amp only, with no sewer. The staff is accommodating and the registration and payment process is easy. There is a boat ramp and pier on the premises, as well as a bike/walk path along Highway 84. However, the campground has many permanent campers and the sites are small, low, and poorly maintained. The modern showers are old and full of mildew and mold. The roads had standing water due to the rain, and many buildings are in need of repair. The staff is unprofessional and poorly dressed, and they refused to refund one nights rental when requested.

From The Campground

Camp Hauberg is a 40-acre campground situated on the banks of the Mighty Mississippi River, 2 miles north of Port Byron, Illinois. The campground has a rich history, having served as a YMCA summer camp from the 1930s to the late 1960s. It now boasts all the conveniences of modern campground facilities, including large shaded campsites with 30 amp electric service and water hook-ups, river fishing/boating, bicycle trails, horseshoes, basketball court, playground equipment, and a clean modern shower house. The property also features two historic lodges, The Little Lodge and The Big Lodge, which can accommodate 4-8 guests and larger groups, respectively. Additionally, there are two travel trailers available for rent in the public area of the campground.
