Mississippi Palisades is a beautiful campground nestled among a scenic wooded area overlooking the Mississippi. With huge pine trees providing shade and grassy lawns in the middle of the campground, it is a great spot for camping. The campground is only open to campers with permits, and admittance is prohibited from 10 p.m. to 7:30 a.m. Reservations are no longer being taken for the Class A and B sites. The park offers great bird watching opportunities, and the hiking trails offer rewarding views at the top. The campground is close to the road and train tracks, so be prepared for noise. Pit toilets are available, but bring a flashlight as the lights turn on slowly. The shower house is not always clean, and picnic tables need to be dragged out of the parking spot before backing in. However, helpful people and rangers can be found here, and it is a peaceful spot to camp.
