Kaskaskia River Campground in Shelbyville, IL is an easy in/out campground that offers reasonable rates. The campground used to be a golf course, which has resulted in few spots having any trees that could provide shade as of 2022. The host was nice and all business. Nearby town is small and kind of dumpy, but the campground serves as a great one-night stay. The campground offers good Wi-Fi, a nice setting, and ease of access to the interstate. The facility space provides full hookups, clean bathhouses, and friendly camp hosts, making it perfect for camping enthusiasts who want to relax and unwind in a peaceful environment. The park is beautiful, with lovely trees and lots of shade. The hiking trails are well-marked and accessible for those with disabilities. The restaurant and gift shop on-site serve as a lovely bonus, as does the clean bathhouse/shower house. Note that many of the campsites are sloped, so its important to keep this in mind when making a reservation. Additionally, the campground is packed with campsites, creating a crowded environment. While there are a few things to note, Kaskaskia River Campground is, on average, a great place for a camping experience.
