What others are saying about this campground
Riverside Campground is a great spot for camping and exploring the historic sites of Springfield. Located close to 4 lane highways, the campground is managed by the Springfield Park District and offers full hookup sites with 50 amp power, water and sewer. The campground is grassy and treed with gravel parking spots that are not very level. The camp hosts are friendly and helpful, and the park is convenient to shopping, restaurants and sightseeing. There are lots of fun trails with great views, and stargazing is acceptable to the north. The campground is bordered with a run-down mobile home park, but it is still an okay spot for the price. The bath house could use some better ventilation and maintenance repairs, but it is still clean. The roads could use some TLC, and the electrical pedestal and/or water spigot can be far away from some sites. The electrical voltage is on the high side, but Verizon air card and cell phone signals work well here. The campground is quiet and secluded, and the host is always on the go, checking on campers multiple times a day. All in all, Riverside Campground is a decent spot for camping with some great views and plenty of nearby attractions.
