Wolf Creek State Park is a large and well-maintained campground located on the shores of Lake Shelbyville in Illinois. It offers a variety of camping options, including 13 horse camp sites, full hookup RV sites, tent camping sites, and reservable sites. There are also hundreds of other campsites spread throughout the park, maintained by the US Corps of Engineers. The park is perfect for equestrians, as it has horse trails and tie out posts for riders that will not be camping. There are also plenty of hiking trails and deer that run through the park in herds in the winter months. In addition, the park has a beach, boat access, and a small store at the entrance for bait, firewood, or forgotten items. The campground is kept clean and the camp hosts, Dave and Sharon, are friendly and accommodating. The only downside is that the trash dumpsters are a bit far away from the camping areas.
