Hide A Way Lakes is a work in progress. Although it is advertised as a resort, it currently has a more primitive feel. The sites are mainly composed of gravel and field grass without many amenities. The employees are friendly and accommodating. There is a game room and a playground available. The pool is still under construction. On the downside, water pressure can be low, and some sites have gravel that makes for unstable parking. The camping area is currently being developed, so many of the sites look unfinished, with dirt, rocks, and roots showing. There are no working cabins or cottages; campers need to bring their own equipment. The price for a monthly stay is relatively high, but the power supply is inconsistent. Despite some drawbacks, Hide A Way Lakes is quiet, and shopping and Chicago are nearby. It shows potential and could become a nicer destination with time.
