What others are saying
Pokagon State Park in Angola, IN is filled with many hiking and biking trails, making it a great destination to visit for 1-2 days. The park has multiple beaches, a nature center, and a camp store for visitors to enjoy. While the interior roads in the campground loops are paved, they have many curves and hills. Site size varies from large to tight, but the park is quiet at night. There is a dump station and a water fill station available in the park. The DNR trail maps are inaccurate, but researching your trails beforehand is well worth your time. The Wetlands Trail is recommended and walking it around dusk offers a unique experience. Overall, if you are looking for a spacious and relaxing park with many amenities and outdoor activities, Pokagon State Park is a great place to camp and explore.

From The Campground

Pokagon State Park is a historic park located in Steuben County, Indiana. Originally called Lake James State Park, it was renamed to acknowledge the rich Native American heritage of the state and region. The park features the unique work of the Civilian Conservation Corps, whose members lived and worked at Pokagon from 1934 to 1942. The park is framed by Lake James and Snow Lake, which offer abundant opportunities for boating, swimming, fishing and scenic sunsets. Pokagon is also Indiana State Parks’ winter wonderland, with cross-country ski rental, sledding, ice fishing and a twin-track toboggan run. The park has a variety of hiking trails that offer scenic views of the area. The park's Potawatomi Inn takes its name from the Native Americans who made their home in the area. The inn, with its up-north fishing-lodge theme, is one of the Midwest’s most popular resorts and conference centers.
