What others are saying
Charlestown State Park in Charlestown, IN is a great park for quiet camping year-round. The campground is well maintained and has picnic tables, fire rings, and electric hookups at each site. Several sites offer full-service hookups. There are plenty of relatively secluded sites to choose from, and the bathhouses are clean. The park has multiple hiking trails of various lengths and levels of difficulty. The trails are in excellent shape and provide beautiful views of the surrounding area. The park also borders the Ohio River, providing opportunities for boating and fishing. The sites are well-spaced and maintained, and the staff is friendly and helpful. Off-season rates are lower, making it an affordable option for a quiet getaway. Although the park is very large with several loops of back-in sites, the sites are not very private, and neighboring campers may be easily visible. The park is also short-handed during periods, and some campsites may not be entirely free of animal waste. Overall, Charlestown State Park is an excellent choice for camping and exploring the surrounding area for a few days or weeks.
