The campground is located in a beautiful wooded area with plenty of shade in the summer. There are multiple play areas for children and beautiful hiking trails within and around the campground itself. The campground sites are spacious and have plenty of shade in the summer. There is a nature center with plenty of critters for the kids to look at, as well as a living history village with demonstrations of the hay press on holiday weekends. There are also nearby caves to explore and escape the summer heat. The pool is luxuriously clean and large with a splash pad and two water slides, and a small concession stand. The majority of sites are shaded and have good cell service. There are also mountain bike trails around the campground and an aquatic center in the park.
From The Campground
O'Bannon Woods State Park is nestled inside 2,400-acre Harrison Crawford State Forest and is managed separately, along with Wyandotte Caves State Recreation Area. The property was the location of one of the few African-American Civilian Conservation Corps units and has a uniquely restored, working haypress barn, complete with oxen for power and a pioneer farmstead. Indiana’s first natural and scenic river, Blue River, flows through the state park and forest. Visitors can learn about early Indiana history as they tour the beautiful first state capitol building, built entirely of limestone, and old town square. The property offers camping, hiking, mountain biking, fishing, boating, horse trails, and a family aquatic center. Wyandotte Caves, located nearby, offers fee-based guided summer tours.
