Shakamak State Park is a beautiful Indiana State Park located near the small community of Jasonville. It offers a wide variety of recreational activities, including three large lakes spanning some 400 acres that are known for spectacular fishing, a seasonal family aquatic center with a large water slide, a seasonal nature center, and several hiking trails. The campsites are in a heavily wooded area with fantastic tree canopy for shade and comfort. Each site includes a fire pit, electric, and picnic table, and there are pull-through spaces for large motor homes with 50 Amp electric. There are also several nice shower houses and plenty of dumpsters for dumping trash. A small camp store supplies firewood, ice, bait, and sundries, and the park office sells Indiana fishing licenses. The park also has a large pool with a nature center, playgrounds, and a pancake breakfast hosted by the Friends of Shakamak. The park is making several upgrades and should be an even better place on the next visit.

From The Campground
Shakamak State Park offers 400 acres of water for fishing and boating while a family aquatic center provides swimming fun. About two-thirds of the campsites are in a wooded area, offering cool shade in the summer and beautiful fall colors in autumn. Nearby is a play field area for family fun. A popular feature of the park is the group camp. The park also offers picnic areas, nature center, boat launch ramp, cabins, hiking trails, rental of paddleboat, rowboat, kayak, recreation building, tennis, basketball court, swimming pool, water slide, camping, and a camp store.
