Johnson County Park is a 622 acre park located on the former grounds of Camp Atterbury, a World War II training facility. The park offers a variety of activities, including two campgrounds, 5 miles of hiking trails, an 18 hole disc golf course, shelter houses, amphitheater, lakes, fishing, Hoosier Horse Park with three arenas, 384 stalls and its own 70 site campground, and more. The RV campground consists of 58 sites with 30amp/50amp electric and water hook ups, level gravel pads, a dump station, restroom and shower facility, playground for children and community campfire ring. The campground is large rig friendly, family oriented, and has a camp host on site for any assistance. The park is lush and green, with plenty of shade trees and maintained grassy areas. The sites are just wide enough to have privacy, clean, level, and have good water pressure. There are no amenities like games or pool, but there is a dog park and plenty of open space for walks and play. The campground is conveniently located near I-65, Exit#76, and near plenty of shopping and restaurants. The staff is friendly and helpful, but not knowledgeable on RVs and towing. There is an active Army Reserve base nearby, so there may be occasional air traffic and sounds of shells and artillery fire.
