From The Campground
Martin State Forest Campground is located adjacent to the arboretum and offers a variety of hiking trails, including the Hardwood Lake Trail, Martin Lake Trail, Arboretum Trail, Woodland Education Trail, Cookshack Trail, and Tank Spring Trail. The campground does not allow camping or fires, but offers seven miles of mountain bike trails. The arboretum contains about three acres with a ¼ mile winding trail and currently contains about 60 different species identified by signs along the trail. The most common species, such as the oaks and hickories, are represented within the arboretum by several specimens. Unlike many arboretums, the goal is not to provide a great number of different species, but to offer a representation of the common woodland trees in Indiana.
