Starve Hollow SRA in Vallonia, IN is a perfect destination for camping enthusiasts. The campground offers beautiful lakefront sites where you can relax and enjoy nature or launch non-motorized boats. There are two boat ramps and docks available. The shower house and restrooms are well-maintained and clean, and the hot water is great. Though the Wi-Fi signal can be weak, it works well near the gatehouse. While visiting the campground, you can rent a canoe ($10-12/hr or $32 for a 24-hour rental) or enjoy hiking on the numerous trails. At night, the park is ideal for stargazing as it gets pretty dark. While the playground equipment could use an update, the concession stand sells basic snacks and supplies. The surrounding hills only add to this peaceful and calm lakeside retreat.

From The Campground

Starve Hollow State Recreation Area encompasses approximately 280 acres offering some of the best camping in southern Indiana. Carved out of 18,000-acre Jackson-Washington State Forest, it provides fishing and boat rental on 145-acre Starve Hollow Lake, swimming on the large sandy beach or the chance to learn about conservation at the Education Center. For the more avid outdoor enthusiast, hiking and mountain biking on nearby trails is available. Hunting can be done during various seasons by accessing nearby Jackson – Washington State Forest. Playgrounds and shelters that can be reserved are located on the property as well.
