GenieSummary
Versailles State Park is a beautiful and family-friendly camping destination located in the rolling hills of southeastern Indiana. It offers a variety of activities for all ages, including hiking, mountain biking, fishing, and boating on the lake. There are three main campgrounds, A, B, and C, each with large, paved, and mostly level lots with mature trees for privacy. Campers must pay a one-time park admission fee of $9, even if they have campground reservations. The camp store has basic provisions, and firewood is reasonably priced at $5 for eight pieces. The park also features a pool with a water slide and high dive boards, boat rentals, a Saddle Barn with hayrides on Friday and Saturday nights, and a playground. The bathrooms/showers are clean and new, and there are spigots in the campground to fill water tanks. However, there are not many trash cans or dumpsters, and the sites are a bit short, so vehicles may need to park sideways in the grass.
From The Campground
Versailles State Park is a historic park that was once the site of both the Civil War and the Civilian Conservation Corps. The park features a CCC commemorative statue and numerous fossils that tell the story of an ancient sea that covered the region. Visitors can relax while fishing on the 230-acre lake where they can rent a rowboat, kayak, or canoe. The park also offers hiking trails, mountain bike trails, and horse trails. In fall, visitors can enjoy the Versailles Pumpkin Show in the town of Versailles the last weekend in September. For Halloween festivities, visitors can visit the park the last weekend in October.
