GenieSummary

This campground is located in the greater Des Moines area and is a good value due to its location close to shopping, new hotels, a casino, an outlet mall, and the Iowa State Fair. The park is well managed with friendly staff and the utilities work well. It has long pull thrus for bigger rigs, plus many camp circles with easy backins for smaller units and groups who wish to be together. Hookups have electric pedestal and hose bib or water stand pipe with sewer drop placed in sites. The roads are paved with asphalt that is cracking and not in very good condition, but maneuvering motorhomes is easy. The park is starting to show its age a little, and the office closes at 7:00 PM on Friday night Memorial Day weekend. There is an event that they fail to mention when making reservations, and weekends can be loud and a drunk fest with a lot of workers camping there. There is a known problem with intermittently high voltage on both legs, which can cause motorhomes to kick themselves off. There are a few trees and the staff can be gruff in response to queries about discounts. There were dead and dried roaches in the lint catchers of the washer/dryers. If the tornado alarms sound, head for one of the cinder block bathrooms.
