Elk Rock State Park is a beautiful campground located close to Lake Red Rock, offering a variety of activities for the whole family. The campground has plenty of trees and good facilities, including an equestrian area for horse lovers. There are 30 and 50 amp electrical sites, but no water or sewer hook ups. There are plenty of multi-use trails for walking and horseback riding, and the campground is home to many bald eagles. The campground is also close to Pella, a historic Dutch town, with good food and bars. The campground is well maintained and has a nice playground, fire pits, and a shower house. There is a water spigot in the center of the circle, but you would need 200 of hose to reach it. The main water fill is at the dump station when you first enter the park. Tent campers will need to bring a potty with them, as there are no porta-potties or pit toilets. There is a reduced rate for stays during the chillier months, when the park is not at its most scenic. Elk Rock State Park is a great place for camping and outdoor activities, and is highly recommended for horseback riding enthusiasts.
