Black Hawk State Park is a beautiful campground situated on a serene lake. It is a popular destination for campers, with plenty of camping sites, a walking path around the lake, and a beach. The campground is well maintained and patrolled by DNR staff on a daily basis. However, it can be difficult to get around in a large travel trailer due to the tight turns between loops and the inability to access the dump station. The restrooms are rustic but clean, and there is a small playground, picnic shelter, and cabin available. The lake is shallow and can have a strong algae bloom in the hot months, but there is a paddle-wheel type boat that is used to combat this. The campground also has a restaurant located on the East side of the lake.

Black Hawk State Park is a beautiful park located in Sac County, Iowa. The park offers a variety of activities including biking, hiking, in-line skating, snowmobiling, and cross-country skiing. The Sauk Rail Trail, a 33-mile hard-surfaced multi-use trail, starts near the park and ends at Swan Lake State Park in Carroll County. The park also features quality picnicking opportunities, a year-round fully furnished cabin that sleeps eight comfortably, and a campground with both electric and non-electric sites. Adjacent to the campground is a large playground structure and a volleyball court. You will also find a disc golf course near the campground available for some fun-filled exercise.
