What others are saying
Pikes Peak State Park is a beautiful campground located high on a bluff overlooking the Mississippi and Wisconsin Rivers. The campground offers a variety of trails for all abilities, ranging from easy to moderate, and stunning views of the river valley below. There are a number of electric sites with access to drinkable water, and a concession stand with snacks and souvenirs. The campground is also home to Spook Cave and Effigy Mounds National Monument, both of which are worth a visit. The sites are gravel and shaded, but can be a bit uneven and require some leveling. The park is also home to a variety of wildlife, making it a great spot for nature lovers. The park is due for a major makeover in 2021, but until then, visitors should be aware that there is limited water hydrants throughout the park and that the electric boxes in sites are placed in strange areas. There is also no readable map or campground host to help visitors locate their site, and the dumping station requires manual assistance/pumping. Despite these issues, visitors can still enjoy the amazing views of the Mississippi and Wisconsin rivers, the many well-marked trails, and the clean bathrooms with plenty of hot water.
