From The Campground
Rathbun Lake Campgrounds offer six campgrounds around the lake, four of which are managed by the Corps of Engineers. The campgrounds offer level campsites with electrical hookups, lantern hanging posts, picnic tables, and fire rings. Shower buildings, sanitary dump stations, playgrounds, and fish cleaning stations are located in most parks. The campgrounds are patrolled routinely by Park Rangers and Appanoose County Sheriff's Deputies. The fees for camping in parks that the Corps of Engineers operates are based on the type of facilities provided. Entrance stations are located at most campgrounds. The largest campground at Rathbun is Island View Campground, which offers 97 reservable electric campsites and 96 non-reservable electric campsites, a boat ramp, dump station, showerhouses, reservable shelter, playground, swimming beach, and fish cleaning station. Honey Creek State Park is managed by the Iowa Department of Natural Resources and offers 27 full hookup campsites, 75 electric campsites, 45 non-electric campsites, and 4 cabins, along with a dump station and showerhouse.
