Fairport Campground is a great spot for fishing, with its close proximity to Fairport Fish Hatchery and Wild Cat Den State Park. It is located along Highway 22 and the railroad, with two boat ramps for river access. The campground has a host, restrooms, a dump station, and a playground with two single swings. The sites have electric, water, fire rings, tables, and drive-in pads. Campsites are a good size and spaced well, and you can enjoy watching the river roll by. The nearby town of Muscatine has restaurants and breweries, and the Mark Twain Overlook of the Mississippi. The campground also has a bathhouse, although it is a bit dated. Be aware that the campground is close to a train track, and the train horn may sound in the night. Big rigs may have difficulty navigating the sharp turn to the dump site, but the sites are level and well-drained. There is good Verizon Broadband (EVDO) connection, but satellite access may be a problem once the trees leaf out.

Fairport State Recreation Area near Muscatine offers majestic views of the Mississippi River. The campground is a small but popular destination for visitors who enjoy easy access to fishing and boating. Camp at one of Fairport’s electric campsites. Campers will enjoy river views from their campsites, along with modern amenities such as electrical hook-ups and modern restrooms and showers. Boat and fish using Fairport’s access to the Mississippi. Two boat ramps provide boating access, with courtesy docks at each ramp. The Mississippi is a popular fishing destination for walleye, catfish and numerous other fish species. View wildlife at Fairport near the river. Large towboats, recreational boaters, river wildlife and the majesty of the river can be seen from the recreation area.
