What others are saying about this campground
Lewis and Clark State Park in Onawa, IA is a peaceful campground located off of highway 29. Visitors must make reservations in advance online but there are some walk-in sites available. Upon arriving, guests can choose an open site with electric and water, fill out a slip and payment, and drop it in a box. There is a reliable hook-up and pumping stations at scattered water points throughout the park. Although the signage can be challenging to follow, the roads allow for easy maneuvering. The well-spaced sites are mainly back-in with electrical hookups only and reliable 50-amp service. There is good OTA television and cell service from Verizon and AT&T. Visitors can enjoy breathtaking views of Blue Lake from most sites and many of them are shaded. The restrooms and showers are clean and well-maintained, although some guests noted that the showers could use some updating. The visitors center is worth a visit, with its replica of keel boats and other boats used by Lewis and Clark. The park has a beach, some nice walking trails, and the campground is pet-friendly. Overall, this park is a great value and it was well received by visitors who have stayed for longer periods of time.
