Chief Wapello Trail Campground is a great place to stay for a weekend getaway. It is conveniently located in the city limits with lots of traffic, but once youre inside the campground, you wont be able to tell. The campground has nice mature trees and lots of spots available, with full hookups for only $18. There is a lake to fish at right in the campground, and it is also close to downtown and anything you might need. The bathrooms are outdated, but could have been a bit cleaner. There is a playground, covered eating areas, and a large city park with ponds and geese, walking paths, some shade and electric, all within walking distance. There is only one dump site, but it is free of charge. The sites are packed in tight, and cost $30/night.
